Belleville

Return to Communities

An hour and three-quarters from Toronto-at the center of Bay of Quinte-Belleville (pop. 49,454) is a prime destination year round thanks to our shopping, dining and theatre, and outdoor activities that include fishing and wind surfing.

In July, our Waterfront Festival brings music, water-skiing exhibitions, and ethnic food and dance celebrations to the Belleville shoreline. Other summer activities centre on the world-class car and motorcycle racing at Shannonville Motorsport Park. And in winter thousands visit the Quinte Sports Centre to watch our Belleville Bulls Junior A Hockey Team in action.

You can shop in the largest service centre in Bay of Quinte, the Quinte Mall, where Highway 401 meets Highway 62 on the north side of the city. Bayview Mall is located at the east end. These malls, and plazas throughout the city, provide convenient access to the products offered by a wide range of high-quality national retailers. Downtown you will find convenient benches, ample parking and more than 250 stores, restaurants and services, for your shopping pleasure.

Visit Belleville on Market Day and you'll join those who come to our Farmers' Market to buy produce from the first crops of spring to autumn's bountiful harvest. Market shopping is a long-standing tradition here, both because of the quality of the fruits and vegetables and their reasonable prices.

Belleville lies in an angler's paradise. Winter ice huts conjure an offshore fishing village on the Bay of Quinte. In the spring and summer anglers of all ages drop their lines from the banks of the nearby Moira River. Along the waterfront you can rent boats and buy bait.

Many boaters find that Belleville makes an ideal stopover. Families sailing the Trent-Severn Waterway or the northern shore of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway will enjoy casting anchor at Meyer's Pier or Victoria Park.

Whether you visit Bay of Quinte in winter or summer you simply must stop at Belleville. We look forward to welcoming you.
