Belletile Featured in the Globe and Mail Report on Business

When Atlanta-based Interface Inc. closed its Belleville, Ont., plant in 2009, Rahumathulla Marikkar and his colleagues saw hope for a different kind of manufacturing. At a time when thousands of manufacturing jobs were disappearing every month across the country and factories sat idled and shuttered by the recession that felled Interface’s plant, Mr. Marikkar put together the funding to launch his own business. He took a big risk and started Belletile, a carpet tile maker. Two years on, he’s hiring and expanding.

L3 communications - CMRO is best known as creators of the Canadarm for NASA's space shuttle program.  Established in Trenton in the early 1990's, the Trenton operation of Spar Aerospace was a maintenance repair and overhaul facility focused primarily on servicing light aircraft and training jets - including  Canada's world renowned Snowbird Demonstration Team (431 Squadron).  In 1999, L3 Communications acquired Spar Aerospace Canada including the Trenton operations.  L3 is the primary contractor for a large variety of aviation ground support equipment for Canada's Department of National Defence.  They currently employ 21 staff.  Access to Canadian Forces Base Trenton and a highly skilled workforce in the region contributes to the continued success and growth of L3 communications - CMRO.
